4 Color Printing

It is known that most of the world experiences their lives in color. Color has been proven to affect the human mood, aid relaxation and catch the eye of others. It is an important aspect of everyday life. We rely on color to inform us whether to stop or go on our roads everyday. We also rely on color to bring our memories to life. Whether it is our photographs or postcards or even our items of clothing. In order to make these memories stand out, we use 4-color printing every day.

The history of printing began in the 1300's. This, centuries old, form of printing was used primarily to print on cloth and later developed to woodcut prints for images and text in books. This then developed to movable type before Johan Gutenberg invented the printing press. Gutenberg then introduced an oil-based ink for printing processes to replace the traditional water based ink, which was less durable. In the centuries to come, all developments led the way to 4- color printing and, while not the end of black and white printing, the world was presented with alternatives.

Since its journey through the ages, the printing process has developed and morphed into many varied techniques and types, as listed below:

All color in the world starts with 3 primary colors i.e. red, green and blue. However, when it comes to the print world, 4-color printing is the only way to go. This kind of printing makes provision for the majority of colors in the color spectrum. 4-color printing is referred to as such because while it uses the 3 primary ink colors for printing, magenta and cyan along with yellow, it includes black aswell. This therefore makes for a print true to life and far more vibrant.

Bay Area Graphics (BAG) use 4-color digital printing in their promotional printing services. This covers various mediums such as t-shirts, media kits etc… This kind of printing enables a company's logo to stand out and be noted by those whom it aims to attract. 4-color printing on mediums such as t-shirts brings the company's logo and brand to life as color conveys not only a specific image but also a specific feel of the brand.
